Would you like to be our new Maintenance Operative (Handyman!)

Stonesfield Parish Council is seeking a flexible Maintenance Operative to carry out small upkeep tasks around the village. Self-employed, zero hours.

Published: 8 December 2025

Stonesfield Parish Council is pleased to announce that we are seeking to appoint a new Maintenance Operative to support the ongoing care of our village. This role is an important part of helping keep Stonesfield clean, safe, and welcoming for everyone who lives here or visits.

The Maintenance Operative will carry out a range of small but essential tasks across the parish, including minor repairs, tidying public areas, and helping address issues that arise around the village. This flexible role will operate on a self-employed, zero-hours basis, with work offered as and when it is required.

We are looking for someone practical, reliable, and able to work independently. The ideal applicant will take pride in maintaining community spaces and be comfortable managing a variety of hands-on tasks. Because the role is self-employed, the successful candidate will need to provide their own tools and equipment where necessary.

This position would particularly suit someone who enjoys outdoor work, has a good eye for detail, and wants to make a positive contribution to village life. Residents often appreciate the small improvements that keep Stonesfield looking its best, and the Maintenance Operative plays a key part in making that happen.
